Kathmandu is one of the oldest cities in Nepal with rich cultural heritage and varieties of food.
According to Legend Kathmandu valley was once a lake. A Buddhist
saint named Manjushree drained out the waters by slashing a passage through the
hills and populated with it with his followers. Over millenniums, a refined
urban civilization emerged, built on a unique synthesis of Hinduism and
Buddhism. Dynasties came and past, commerce and craft flourished. Its religious
Newar inhabitants built fabulous city and artistic temples that are unmatched
in the Himalayan region.
